If you’ve followed my writing, you know that I often use an example as inspiration to make a more general point. I usually try to be explicit that the writing isn’t about the individuals in the example. Instead, it’s about the general message.
I published a post about the AI Bandwagon on Monday, inspired by a LinkedIn exchange between Jurgen Appello and James Bach. That said, I leaned far too heavily into Jurgen Appelo, and it appeared that I was personally attacking him.
That was not my intent, not at all. To Jurgen or anyone who perceived it that way, I sincerely apologize.
My intent was three-fold:
To caution thought leaders (me included) to be aware of their privilege and influence when writing in times of great turbulence. Read AI as a driver here 😉
To caution everyone, every reader, to be aware of Bandwagon’s and their magnetic attraction.
To caution all of us to remain balanced in our interpretation of and reaction to evolutionary events. (I used Agile as an example to prop against AI)
Those were my general cautions, which do not directly relate to Jurgen Appelo.
To say that my writing and point-making were poor in this case is an understatement. Again, I apologize, and I will get better.
Stay agile, my friends!
Bob.
Nice back tracking. You speak of mindfulness in your book. Guess you didn’t bring “your authentic self” to the response….or maybe you did.
Thank you, Bob. I appreciate that.
I admire people with integrity.
There are too few of them.
Wish you the best.
