Simply having a Coach doesn’t mean you are Coachable
I’ve been talking a lot lately about coachability.
Often in my leadership coaching classes, when folks ask me about developing themselves as a leader and/or an Agile Coach, I speak about four things—
Get a coach or coaches.
Be a coach.
Get a mentor or mentors.
Be a mentor.
As if this simple exercise of acquiring these people would change their lives. And the answer is, yes, it will, and no, it won’t.
Not without curiosity, an open mind, and humility. Otherwise, you’re just wasting your (and their) time.
But Bob, how do I know if I have those three magical ingredients?
You don’t. They do. Which is undoubtedly a coachability conundrum for you to sort through…
Stay agile, my friend,
Bob.
